I just started my vending machine business and I have 1 solid location. I am having a tough time carving out a few more. I have aquired some honor boxes for snacks, and will hopefully place those this week. I need to get systems together for managing inventory, product mixes, accounting, and buying inventory efficiently. Right now, I’m just flying by the seat of my pants! Any advice on that?

Should You Focus On A ‘Healthy Vending Business’ ..in part offering Healthy snacks is always part of a Vending operators business. We as responsible vendors do make healthy vending products available but from our 3.5 years doing vending, we have found ….when you put in a Vendor on a new site you are always asked for healthy vending options and we are quite happy to do so…however we find they like to” look & see HEALTHY snacks ” in their vending machine…but they rarely ever buy it. It always goes out of date because they prefer their chips & chocolates. After It;s all in moderation.Even when we put in a Drink Vending Machine…we put in 600ml Water instead of another drink flavour but we find it doesnt sell as well as other fizzy drinks.
Healthy vending is a great option but i beleive it is not as profitable as selling Chips,Chocolates & Drinks.
We know someone who is retired a x bank manager …who decided to do something to keep himself occupied as well as a small income. He went the “Healthy Vending” way…bought large combination vending machines all sign written with the HEALTHY images & options etc…looking great… placed them in shopping centres selling dried fruits,soy crisps,Nut varieties,juices,water,flavoured waters,iced teas…etec,etc…after 3 months he gave up..sure some people bought from his vending machine but he sat one day… did a head count of people buying from his vending machine as compared to another big brand drink vending machine selling NO healthy goods and was shocked…almost 20 to 1 was the difference.
Soon afterward he changed to his vending machine back standard vending and started making good profits that week. It is different horses for cdifferent ourses. Vending is te same …Vending healthy products will still have a ways to come yet
